Premier League Team of Week 38

Premier League Team of week 38: Aubameyang’s Golden Boots

2018/19 has been a remarkable season for so many reasons. And so we face the final curtain. Here’s our Premier League team of week 38.

Goalkeeper: Neil Etheridge. Manchester United 0-2 Cardiff City.

While United were undoubtedly poor on Sunday, Etheridge still had to make 10 saves to ensure Cardiff secured a famous victory.

Right-back: Adam Smith. Crystal Palace 5-3 Bournemouth.

Smith has come close to appearing in our team of the week on several occasions this season. Better late than never, Adam!

Centre-back: Fabian Schar. Fulham 0-4 Newcastle United.

A goal and a clean sheet capped a fine season for the Swiss.

Centre-back: Aymeric Laporte. Brighton 1-4 Manchester City.

As Laporte scored the goal which essentially decided the destination of the title, he certainly deserves a spot here.

Left-back: Patrick van Aanholt. Crystal Palace 5-3 Bournemouth.

There seems to be little van Aanholt likes more than scoring goals at the end of seasons.

Midfield: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. Manchester United 0-2 Cardiff City.

As Twelve man Richard Jolly noted, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has scored more goals at Old Trafford this season than Alexis Sanchez.

Midfield: Mark Noble. Watford 1-4 West Ham United.

Noble scored the 40th and 41st Premier League goals of his career at Vicarage Road. Paolo di Canio is now the only player to have bagged more for the Hammers.

Midfield:Ilkay Gundogan. Brighton 1-4 Manchester City.

Gundogan scored the 95th and final goal of City’s title winning campaign.

Midfield: Nathan Redmond. Southampton 1-1 Huddersfield Town.

Redmond scored to cap a fine end to the season. The Saint finished with three goals and two assists in his final eight matches.

Forward: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Burnley 1-3 Arsenal.

Our final man of a week for 2018/19 put in a rare 4,000 point performance. To do so without scoring at least three times is incredibly rare.

Forward: Sadio Mané. Liverpool 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It’s fitting that another Golden Boot man features here. Mané finished the season in red hot form, with his double against Wolves giving him a tally of 14 goals in his last 16 league games. Over and out for 2018/19!
