It’s really not worth dwelling on our team from last week. It came, it saw, it fell in the sea and drowned by the looks of things. Joao Moutinho and Luka Milivojevic did passably well, but as they were the most popular picks by our competitors in the contest, that counted for very little.
And so we reach the final week of the 2018/19 Premier League season. Let’s see if we can go out on a high. Draft Kings‘ game obviously has all 10 matches on Sunday included, so by using our algorithm to find the players who have performed best over the last six weeks, we’ve assembled our team.
The most expensive player in the game is also the man at the top of our leader board. Spooky or what? Eden Hazard may well be playing the final Premier League game of his Chelsea career, so let’s hope he goes out on a high.
Despite having won their last 13 league matches, no Manchester City players have made the cut. But our defensive partnership will be up against them; say a prayer for Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy. It may seem odd to select them, but Draft Kings’ game rewards defensive actions, and I think we can be certain they’ll be kept busy.
Plus they’ll be joined – via the utility spot – by Virgil van Dijk. If the player of the year can’t help them, nobody can. Big Virgil will be accompanied in our team by his buddy Mohamed Salah, as Liverpool do their best to win the title.
Two of the Reds’ Champions League final opponents are in our team. Christian Eriksen got in on merit, while Hugo Lloris was the most expensive goalkeeper we could afford. No point leaving salary on the bench, and our leader board was ‘keeper free.
And so to our final pick of the season. It all comes down to one man, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is his name. Hapless Huddersfield shouldn’t provide stern opposition. Sail well, Pierre-Emile. Here’s our full fantasy football week 38 team, and final one of 2018/19. Good night, good luck, and thanks for reading!
