Our team last weekend was the same as many before it: a mixture of the sublime and the ridiculous. I can’t recall having a team where three of the eight players scored negative points. That one of them was Paul Pogba, one of our top players this season, makes it all the more mystifying.
Wilfried Zaha scored 18.75 points, while Raul Jimenez top scored with 22.5 (and made our team of the week). But it wasn’t enough to save the shambles of a team behind them.
Draft Kings‘ game has six games from which we can select our team in week 30. By using our algorithm to find the players who have performed best over the last six weeks, we’ve assembled our squad. Before we reveal all, here are the matches this week.
Our team begins with our goalkeeper, Cardiff’s Neil Etheridge. Our leader board rarely includes a ‘keeper, and this week is no exception. If in doubt, go with the guy from our latest team of the week.
Him aside, we were able to use the top five players from our chart. Sergio Aguero lead the way, just ahead of Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.
Old Slabhead should stand a good chance of a clean sheet, as the Foxes are at home to Fulham. But the Cottagers are represented here too, with Calum Chambers. A defensive partnership between players who will be on opposing sides. Novel.
The remaining players from our leader board topping quintet are both Spursy: Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld. They’re off to the south coast, and should do well against the struggling Saints.
Behind the top five, there were a surfeit of midfielders but no space for them in the team. The next forward in line was Raheem Sterling, who suits us fine. Liverpool put five past the Hornets recently; will City do likewise?
Here’s our full fantasy football week 30 team. Good luck!
