That’s better. We may not have won a cash prize last week, but our team mustered more points than they had in the previous two combined. A definite step in the right direction.
You know the drill by now; we select a team for Draft Kings’ weekend game. To do this, we run the last six weeks of Premier League matches through our algorithm, to see what the best eight man squad we can assemble is. The full leader board is here, and these are the matches.
Let’s start at the back. Goalkeepers rarely rank highly on our leader boards, so if in doubt go with the custodian from the most recent team of the week. Step forward, Wayne Hennessey. Palace are at home to struggling Burnley (not that the Eagles are doing so well themselves) so he stands a good chance of a clean sheet.
In front of him go the Brighton pairing of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy. They’re also up against one of the bottom six sides, in the shape of Huddersfield Town. The Terriers have only averaged around a goal per game at home, plus only five sides in the division have conceded more goals from set pieces. Hopefully our defenders go up for a few corners and make a difference.
Our midfield is comprised of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Luka Milivojevic and David Silva. The latter is top of our leader board, has a near-permanent slot in our teams of the week, and though Bournemouth have done well overall this season, it’s hard to see them getting anything at the Etihad.
That leaves us with two slots up front, and it’s a Manchester duo this week. Silva’s team mate Leroy Sané takes one of the berths, with Anthony Martial alongside him. United travel to Southampton, so he should get a few decent opportunities to score this week.
Here’s the team in full, good luck!
